As the countdown to the Presidential election continues, the All Progressive Party, APC, yesterday, said it has achieved far more in four years compared to what the opposition (People Democratic Part) had done in 16 years.
Making the claim in Lagos State, during the Party’s rally, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola while addressing the residents in the State said: “Our success story in roads construction over the past three years is far superior to what they (PDP) have delivered in 16 years with more resources and more time. With fewer resources and less time, we have done a lot more.
“So, the Buhari train, the APC train of progress is gaining momentum, and we must finish the job that we started in 2015. The developmental work, the building of national prosperity is not a four years work.
“We have spent four years using the fight against insecurity, corruption, to build the foundation of a very resilient economy, an economy that is based on efficient infrastructure, and infrastructure sufficiency where everybody can be committed.
“We have done more with less and our records surpass that of the opposition by many miles. Do not fritter away the games of the journey you have started, change is difficult, change is painful, but change is upon us, and it has happened.
On manufacturing and production
“We gained a lot by taking a decision that many people could not take. We started operation to feed the nation, we ran back, we started the green revolution, we ran back, but Buhari without any sloganeering just said grow what you eat, and you know what has happened? Rice importation has reduced by 90 per cent, the benefit is that Nigerians are now producing the rice and earning income from it, that is job creation locally.
“Sugar importation bill has dropped by 60 per cent that is an opportunity here. Recently we said we are going to stop the importation of tomatoes paste, it because we are increasing capacity. As we produce more, we will create more jobs, save foreign exchange and invest the Forex when it comes into infrastructure, power, roads, bridges, schools hospitals and so much more.
“This is what an economic program is all about and it is far superior to any other thing that the opposition has done. We have stayed through with economy, security and corruption, if we solve those problems, Nigeria will achieve its promise.
“Now the next level means that, when that infrastructure is completed, it will lead to a massive explosion of growth, opportunities, job creation, manufacturing, agro-processing and something in the like that Nigeria has not witnessed in a long time.
“I am so convinced, I am a part of the plan, I see the end result and I am convinced that Nigerians will stand to gain if they secure that future today with their vote for President Muhammadu Buhari and the entire APC candidate.
“Our developmental program, ease of doing business, rebuilding Nigeria’s broken infrastructure, to create efficient and competitive global economy, our trader money, feeding nine million children daily, and our long term rail program to bring efficiency in transportation, reduce cost of transportation, reduce the cost of goods and services and food, and make life better for people.
The Minister stated that, “Our concern about issues of cost of estimated billings, our plans and programs that have licence over 108 Meters asset providers are far superior to any other thing that the opposition can offer.
“On Thursday, the 8th of February, 2018, we achieved another peak in power distribution, from 5017mw which was an all-time peak of distribution at the time in 2016 to 5222mw in February, 2017, which was the second all-time peak, to 5373mw.
“I know this is not good news for the opposition, but this is clear progress, we will get to 6000mw, 7000mw and beyond because the generation and transmission companies are improving. Two days ago, I was at Ilashe in Oriade local government, a community that has not been connected to electricity for centuries were connected.”
Fashola further called on Nigerians to vote for APC so that they can consolidate on the plans they have started.
